Everything you need to know about my live performances and booking process.
I recommend booking at least 6-12 months in advance for weddings and major events to secure your date.
Yes, I bring a state-of-the-art sound system suitable for up to 250 guests.
Absolutely! I am happy to play any song out of my set list possibilities page which has over 222 pieces of music on it. Provided there is enough time to learn a new piece and I can find the sheet music for it, then I can also do up to one request per event for an extra fee of $100 as a non-refundable deposit in addition to the regular deposit.
My concerts are designed to be more than background music. They are interactive, uplifting experiences that combine great music, audience engagement, storytelling, humor, and meaningful moments that leave people feeling inspired and entertained.
A playlist plays songs. A live performer creates an experience.
Your guests don't remember what was playing in the background. They remember the energy, interaction, laughter, and connection that only a live performance can create. A live concert turns an ordinary gathering into a memorable event.
The performance fee includes a professional live concert experience of up to two hours, audience interaction, sound equipment (when applicable), setup, performance time, and a customized event experience designed to engage your audience and create lasting memories.
You're not paying for an hour of music.
You're paying for years of experience, preparation, equipment, travel planning, performance expertise, audience engagement, and the ability to create an event people will remember long after it's over.
Many organizations spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on decorations or catering that are forgotten within days. A great concert becomes the highlight people talk about for months.
My programs are designed to connect with audiences, not just perform at them. I focus on entertainment, audience participation, familiar themes, humor, and creating an atmosphere where people feel involved rather than simply watching.
Senior communities, churches, community organizations, private parties, appreciation events, retirement celebrations, special occasions, festivals, civic groups, and family gatherings.
The standard performance is included in the base fee. Additional performance time can be added for $150 per extra hour, making it easy to customize the event to your schedule.
Additional performance time can be added for only $150 per hour. Many clients choose this option when they want a longer program or multiple entertainment segments throughout an event.
Absolutely.
Guests may request songs already in my current repertoire at no additional charge. This helps make the event interactive and gives attendees an opportunity to hear their favorites.
Yes.
I offer personal dedications using songs already in my repertoire for $50. This is a wonderful option for anniversaries, birthdays, retirements, memorial recognitions, employee appreciation events, or honoring special guests.
Before performing the song, I personally acknowledge and dedicate it to the individual or group being honored. This often becomes one of the most meaningful moments of the entire event.
If sufficient preparation time is available and the song is appropriate for the event, I can learn and perform select new songs, including classical music selections, for an additional $150 per song.
Learning a new song requires research, practice, arrangement preparation, rehearsal time, and performance preparation. The fee compensates for the additional work required to deliver a polished performance.

In all truth I usually am cutting my net pay in almost half by offering this service so cheaply when you consider the time it takes to learn new music normally.
So take advantage of it before I come to my senses. lol!
Yes. If enough advance notice is provided, I can learn and prepare many types of selected classical pieces as special requests. Level 1-4 difficulty with enough time is possible. Five's will take a long time and some might not be possible as a lot of five's are practically unplayable because of many being written by non-guitarists or would take years to master even for competition level musicians. I am good, but I have my limits especially the patience to spend two years on the same piece. lol. I did that type of thing in college with five's but I try to avoid it when possible now.
Travel fees may apply depending on the location of the event. All travel expenses are discussed upfront so there are never any surprises.

I regularly travel for performances. Once I know the event location, I can provide a clear quote that includes any applicable travel expenses.
Many of my performances are especially well received by senior audiences because they combine music, interaction, familiarity, and positive engagement. Seniors often become some of the most enthusiastic participants. Many retirement communities don't have a budget for my level of performance, but if that is you contact me anyway as I sometimes have volunteer opportunitees or tour fill-in dates for inbetween shows in route that may be able to fit a lower budget.
Yes. Whenever possible, I tailor the program to fit the audience, the occasion, and the goals of the event organizer.
I don't focus solely on playing songs. I focus on creating an experience.
People may forget individual songs, but they remember how the event made them feel. My goal is to help your guests leave smiling, engaged, and glad they attended.
I have a set list of over 270 pieces so I can accomodate many performances without having to repeat music. Plus, since I do improvisation in my performances, new and different ornamentation of pieces, and sometimes speak about different things, pretty much none of my performances are the same. So you can feel comfortable booking more than one or even many performances at a time. I also may be able to offer discounts if you are booking more than 6 performances at a time.
Because they want an event that people genuinely enjoy and remember.
A successful event makes the organizer look good, keeps guests engaged, and creates positive memories. My goal is to help you accomplish all three.
The answer is simple:
If you're spending time and money gathering people together, entertainment is often what determines whether the event feels ordinary or memorable.
For approximately the cost of a catered meal for a few guests, you can provide an entire audience with a live musical experience that creates laughter, conversation, audience participation, and lasting memories.
Most clients don't regret hiring entertainment.
They regret not having enough entertainment.
That's why so many event planners tell me the same thing afterward:
"The concert was one of the best parts of the entire event."
And as of Sept of 2026, I have counted 13 different people that have said that I was the best performer they had ever seen at various those different venues I've played at, with many people around them nodding in agreement. I don't say that to brag, but rather because I know how much care and effort I take to make sure that my clients get the best I can offer, and I would rather say a brag than have you end up with a lesser effort and less memorable performance because of choosing someone else who doesn't care as much or simply hasn't put in the practice yet. Especially, if that choice is going to come from me not seeming confident enough to even say what others say about me. lol.
I have many other testimonial quotes that are posted through my websites you can look at. I'd love to act totally humble enough to trust that word of mouth advertising from my fans will get to you without me having to say anything, but sadly that is not how the music industry usually works much. lol We are just not that connected in this world for that to happen until you are famous, with a few exceptions.
If you are planning an event and want elegant live music that creates unforgettable memories, David Michael Cray provides professional classical guitar performances tailored to your special day.
